The construction scope of work for this project involves the replacement of Circuit Breaker Houses #6 and #7, the upgrade of the bridge’s control and communication systems to include fiber optics, and replacement of power delivery systems, switchgears, and AC substations. The work scope also included the replacement of all 128 lift cables on the bridge, calibration of the bridge’s counterweights, replacement of the Operator’s Room, incorporation of new DC VFD motors, and replacement of all areas damaged by Hurricane Sandy.

Project Description

EnTech provided a project scheduler, an environmental consultant, and an electrical inspector. Environmental tasks completed were asbestos and lead-based paint abatement monitoring and inspections, hazardous waste storage and removal from the site, steel surface preparation and multi system coating inspections. Scheduler duties included reviewing schedules to determine conflicts and coordination issues, and development and maintenance of a Project Master Schedule, summarizing and incorporating all of the ongoing and future project tasks. EnTech’s electrical inspector performed inspections of bridge power, controls, and communication systems, as well as installation and testing of switchgears, fiber optic testing, and splicing of control cables, megger testing, and continuity testing.
