Green Infrastructure design services (Geotechnical investigation)
The NYCEDC, on behalf of DEP, is providing civil design services for green infrastructure projects in Brooklyn and Bronx combined sewer tributary areas (CSTAs) flowing into Jamaica Bay and the Bronx River, respectively. Some structures which will be constructed include Right of Way (ROW) bioswales, rain gardens, stormwater greenstreets, porous paving, and other stormwater management practices that manage runoff from streets and sidewalks.
As part of the preliminary design phase, evaluations of each sub-tributary area must be done, including studying DEP GIS sewer maps, performing walkthroughs with DEP, DOT, DPR, and OGI to determine potential GI locations, and conducting standard site analysis including geotechnical investigation, and limited topographical survey, utility survey, vault and basement survey.

- Geotechnical Engineering
EnTech is participating in the geotechnical investigations, providing geotechnical engineers/inspectors. Duties include:
- Overseeing the drilling operations to ensure standard penetration tests (SPT) are conducted per ASTM D-1586
- Performing field measurements including ground water level observation and measurements in accordance with ASTM D-4750 and ASTM D-5092 standards to establish the location of perched water tables
- Performing permeability tests data tabulation and reduction for further analysis and presentation in our geotechnical reports
- Maintaining field forms and logs containing all technical information related to SPT and permeability tests following OGI guidelines and our project quality control requirements
