Manhattan’s low-lying, densely populated Lower East Side is highly vulnerable to flooding from coastal storms and sea level rise. The East Side Coastal Resiliency project is an ambitious coastal protection initiative aimed at protecting the area’s 110,000 residents through a variety of flood protection measures along a 2.4-mile corridor on the East River shoreline.
EnTech is performing construction inspection, electrical engineering, structural engineering, and office engineering as part of the CM team for Project Area 1, which encompasses a 1.6-mile corridor from Montgomery Street to East 14th Street.
The firm’s construction inspection staff monitor contractor work for safety and conformance to contract documents. EnTech is further responsible for reviewing contractor structural and electrical drawings and specifications for compliance with contract documents and agency standards. The firm’s structural engineers prepare and review as-built drawings.
EnTech is additionally providing VDC services—the team is conducting biweekly drone flights of the project corridor to acquire comprehensive aerial imagery and generate 3D BIM reflecting as-built conditions over time for real-time project monitoring. EnTech’s drone team is managing preflight permitting; piloting drones and conducting photogrammetry; and developing 3D models and visual reports.
