Ferry Point Park, straddling the Whitestone Bridge along the Bronx waterfront, is having 19.5 acres of undeveloped parkland converted into an ecologically responsible park by the New York City Department of Parks and Recreation (NYCDPR). EnTech, as the prime consultant, provided CM and REI services for the work that included: plantings to create a 17.5-acre open maritime grassland, excavation and earthmoving of 85,000 CY of soil to create a 1.6-acre tidal salt marsh, construction of a multi-use path along the East River, and the installation of a 12-vehicle parking area.
EnTech oversaw daily construction activities and ensured contractor adherence to project schedule, budget, requirements, and the client’s quality standards. The team performed contract administration including cost estimating, payment processing, change order preparation, and cost and schedule oversight.
Additionally, EnTech conducted close environmental monitoring of the former landfill and regularly took soil and water samples, verifying the East River’s water quality. Prior to construction the site was capped in compliance with New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (NYSDEC) requirements. Other environmental tasks included contaminated soil excavation and waste disposal. Under EnTech’s guidance, the project was completed on time and under budget.
