The seawall and esplanade along the East River shorefront in the Astoria neighborhood, bordering Astoria Boulevard and Vernon Boulevard, were severely deteriorated from years of storms and erosion. The New York City Department of Parks and Recreation (NYCDPR) undertook the reconstruction and stabilization of 90 feet of seawall sections and railing.
EnTech provided CM and inspection services. The firm oversaw contractor activities for compliance with safety and construction specifications, monitored the schedule and budget, communicated with the NYCDPR and other stakeholders, reviewed contract drawings and contractor payments, verified quantities, and reviewed daily inspection reports. Work along the west side wall consisted of expansion joint cleaning and reconstruction, removal of loose material along the concrete face, replacement with new reinforced concrete, and railing replacement. Work on the south wall consisted of crack repair by injection grout, spall repair by removing loose material and adding new reinforced concrete, as well as cleaning and repainting the railing.
