The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey (PANYNJ), in partnership with JFK Millenium Partners (JMP), is undertaking the construction of a new Terminal 6 at JFK International Airport, a major component of the full redevelopment of JFK to accommodate expected growth. The 1.2 million-sf terminal will feature nine wide-body aircraft gates and adjoin Terminal 5, replacing the former Terminal 6 and the existing Terminal 7.
As part of the design-build team, EnTech is providing a range of civil design, geotechnical instrumentation and monitoring, virtual design and construction (VDC), and environmental engineering services, working across multiple contracts. The civil team is preparing soil erosion and sediment control plans, stormwater pollution prevention plan (SWPPP), and pavement designs for landside and airside areas.
EnTech’s geotechnical engineers are monitoring vibration, noise, and settlement during construction, to measure impacts on proximate structures and surrounding roadways and bridges. EnTech is also performing utility monitoring, as well as preconstruction and post-construction condition surveys.
EnTech’s VDC team is executing a reality capture program for structural elements throughout the new terminal, which meet the PANYNJ’s advanced BIM standards. The team is developing a point cloud of the in-progress building, which is used to inform ongoing construction decisions and assist with progress tracking. The firm has additionally provided environmental services including quantifying hazardous materials at the site.
