Queens Boulevard Vision Zero Reconstruction

Queens Boulevard, one of New York City’s most important thoroughfares, carries as many as 16 traffic lanes between central Queens and the Queensboro Bridge. However, it has long been recognized as a dangerous street for pedestrians and cyclists, and its high accident rate led to it being named as one of five priority “Great Streets” in the Vision Zero program to reduce traffic fatalities.

EnTech is providing geotechnical, environmental, and civil services for the redesign and reconstruction of 6.3 miles of Queens Boulevard, between Roosevelt Avenue and Jamaica Avenue. The scope includes roadway reconstruction and the redesign and replacement of sewers and water mains.

EnTech’s civil engineering team designed sewers and water mains for Phase A of the project, spanning approximately 1.4 miles from Roosevelt Avenue to 73rd Street, and is now performing similar services for Phase B of the corridor, from 73rd Street to Yellowstone Boulevard. The firm’s geotechnical team developed a subsurface exploration program for Phase B. EnTech’s environmental team prepared SEQRA and CEQR documentation, including a list of anticipated permits and certifications. The team has also performed on-site investigations of aboveground hazardous materials within the Queens Boulevard ROW.
