Shore Road Emergency Stabilization REI

Running along the Little Neck Bay shoreline in the Douglas Manor area of Queens, Shore Road’s integrity was compromised by erosion conditions and collapsed embankments. Therefore, the New York City Department of Design and Construction (NYCDDC) undertook emergency stabilization work at two locations on Shore Road.

EnTech provided REI and CM services for the emergency project. The firm monitored stabilization work, as well as the reinstallation of the concrete roadway and adjacent walkways. EnTech oversaw the excavation and backfill of the sloping embankment and the installation of extended sheet pile walls, as well as geotextile wrap and crushed stone bases. The team continually assessed the rehabilitation of the collapsing embankment, and ensured work was being completed within a timely fashion. The project was delivered under budget.

Throughout construction, EnTech managed communication with Douglas Manor residents. The team fielded questions and concerns from residents, took community interests into account while coordinating construction, and provided updates throughout the project.
