The Brooklyn Waterfront Greenway is a planned 26-mile protected and landscaped pathway along the Brooklyn shoreline for pedestrians and cyclists. When complete, the Greenway will connect numerous commercial and cultural corridors, waterfront parks, open spaces, and technology and innovation hubs. Several segments of this ambitious project are currently open to the public, with others under construction or planned.
EnTech is leading the design for the Commercial Street reconstruction in the Greenpoint neighborhood, which will form the Greenway’s northernmost segment. The New York City Department of Design & Construction (NYCDDC) project corridor spans one block of Box Street and three blocks of Commercial Street, with connections to four existing parks.
EnTech is developing civil designs including plans for schematic roadway geometry, full street reconstruction, the new bicycle lane, water main replacement, combined sewer replacements, stormwater management, street lighting, and maintenance and protection of traffic (MPT), as well as civil cost estimating. EnTech is developing street designs to integrate smoothly with sidewalk and pavement design at numerous residential developments, which will foster a cohesive and safe overall experience for pedestrians, bicyclists, and residents.
EnTech’s traffic engineers prepared a traffic impact study for both build and no-build conditions. The firm is additionally overseeing surveying and landscape architecture services.
