The New Brunswick Train Station is a historic commuter fixture of the city of New Brunswick. Used by students at nearby Rutgers University and by commuters, the station has seen a dramatic increase in annual passengers over the past 5 years. That’s why the Middlesex County Improvement Authority (MCIA), in partnership with NJ TRANSIT and the New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT), is undertaking the $70 million modernization and expansion of the station. EnTech’s Digital Delivery team is on board to provide virtual design and construction (VDC) services.

As a member of the design team, EnTech is supplying reality capture and 3D modeling of station interiors and exteriors, as well as BIM coordination. The collected data and developed models will help guide designs for the extensive station improvements, including renovation of platforms, pedestrian passages, and tunnels; and new waiting areas, signage, trainway equipment, building equipment, and vertical circulation elements. EnTech is also managing the BIM workflow through all project phases, upholding adherence to the project’s BIM Execution Plan (BEP) and industry best practices.
Station upgrades are expected to be completed by 2028. Learn more
