EnTech Honored with 2024 ACEC New York Gold Award

New York, NY – EnTech, in joint venture with Liriano & Associates Engineering, has been awarded a 2024 ACEC New York Gold Award in the Waste and Storm Water category, as part of the 2024 Engineering Excellence Awards Competition. The award recognizes the firm’s innovative work on New York City Department of Design and Construction (NYCDDC) project QED1023B: Water Main and Sewer Upgrades Along Cypress Avenue.

EnTech and Liriano provided resident engineering inspection (REI) and construction management services, working collaboratively with contractors, stakeholders, and community members to execute this complex project in a densely populated residential and commercial area. EnTech’s team went beyond the basics to implement solutions that kept the project organized, on time, and under budget, while minimizing disruptions to the surrounding community.

The $42 million project involved the replacement of nearly 100-year-old unlined cast iron trunk water mains, distribution water mains, and combined storm and sanitary sewers with new concrete-lined ductile iron pipe (DIP). The project has helped to alleviate persistent flooding in parts of the Ridgewood neighborhood of Queens and improve water quality for the community.

EnTech is honored to receive the ACEC New York Gold Award, which reflects our core value as a firm to think beyond the expected scope of work and design forward thinking solutions for complex projects. By applying this approach to projects that rehabilitate our communities, we are actively improving the quality of life for residents and businesses while increasing the resiliency of our infrastructure.

The firm is familiar with the many challenges presented by the construction of water distribution infrastructure in urban areas, but this project presented unique obstacles, which the team overcame through constant communication with the client, community, and contractor, and through the REI team using its expertise to anticipate and resolve construction issues from design phase to closeout. EnTech is honored that ACEC has recognized these efforts and the firm’s ongoing commitment to innovative engineering solutions that better our communities and our city.

The award will be formally presented at a black-tie gala on April 13, 2024 at the Hilton Midtown in New York City.
