EnTech Thought Leaders Delivering Two Presentations at NJ TransAction Conference, April 30 – May 2

BUILDING INFORMATION MODELING (BIM), DRONES, AND BUSINESS INTELLIGENCE (BI) FOR TRANSPORTATION PROJECTS

Speakers: Megh Patel | VDC Engineer Pranav Balabadrinath, MS | VDC Engineer
Date & Time: Tuesday, April 30 | 11:10 – 12:10
Location: Room Wildwood 18-19

Description: This presentation explores the dynamic intersection of Building Information Modeling (BIM), Virtual Design and Construction (VDC), cutting-edge Drone Applications, and Business Intelligence (BI) Dashboards within the realm of transportation projects. We will delve into how BIM and VDC foster collaboration and efficiency, the advanced capabilities of drones for site mapping and project monitoring, and embrace the power of BI through visually rich dashboards. We will discuss how this holistic approach unlocks unprecedented insights, fostering informed decision-making and optimizing the success of transportation infrastructure projects.

DESIGN-BUILD CASE STUDY: GEOTECHNICAL INSTRUMENTATION AND MONITORING FOR OPTIMIZED UNDERGROUND CONSTRUCTION IN URBAN AREAS

Speaker: Saeedeh Rezaei, PE | Associate VP/Director of Geotechnical Engineering
Date & Time: Thursday, May 2 | 10:30 – 11:30
Location: Room Wildwood 3

Description: In densely populated urban environments, the escalating demand for essential infrastructure such as water systems, sewer networks, and transportation necessitates innovative strategies. Underground construction and mechanized tunneling have emerged as key approaches to meet these demands. However, conducting excavations in such urban areas, which are already laden with existing infrastructure like roads, bridges, high-speed rail lines, utilities, and historic buildings, presents significant challenges and prerequisites. In response, the use of various instruments and well-planned instrumentation strategies, supported by enhanced data accuracy and interpretation, becomes essential. Geo-instrumentation, a critical element in modern engineering practices, is often employed to monitor ground behavior during underground construction.
