New York City Health + Hospitals (NYCHH), in association with New York Correctional Health Services, provides health services for incarcerated individuals, including patients with complex medical and mental health needs. To improve access to care and a more normalized rehabilitation environment, NYCHH is undertaking the construction of outposted therapeutic housing units (OTxHUs) at Bellevue Hospital for patients who would benefit from frequent access to specialty care.
EnTech is providing project management and cost engineering services as part of a CM/builder team. Work includes the demolition of existing facilities and construction and fit-out of OTxHUs. EnTech is monitoring project progress while evaluating and performing quality control (QC) measures for project budget, schedule, plans, and personnel performance. The team prepares and reviews submittals, RFIs, and transmittals, in addition to evaluating and negotiating subcontractor change orders.
The OTxHUs offer significant benefits to both patients and clinicians, including more humane secure housing, opportunities for cross-discipline coordination among hospital services, and greater continuity of care. The Bellevue project is one of two pilot sites in the NYCHH OTxHU program.
