The Delaware River Port Authority (DRPA) has undertaken a major rehabilitation to preserve and enhance the Commodore Barry Bridge, a cantilever truss bridge connecting Pennsylvania and New Jersey over the Delaware River. The rehabilitation’s final phase entails de-leading and repainting this structure, which serves as a critical passageway for Greater Philadelphia. The scope of work includes blast cleaning; application of protective coatings to the cantilever truss and other steel components; steel, concrete, and deck repairs; and replacement of electrical conduits and wiring.
EnTech is managing a noise monitoring program to protect surrounding communities from excess construction noise. During preconstruction, the firm’s acoustical monitoring team developed a comprehensive noise mitigation, control, and monitoring plan in adherence to both New Jersey and Pennsylvania regulations. The team installed noise monitoring units across the project site and conducted baseline noise level surveys. Electrical power is unavailable for the monitoring instruments, and EnTech configured and mounted solar panels and solar trackers to power each instrument.
During construction, EnTech is conducting real-time evaluation of noise levels, investigating community noise complaints, and developing mitigation strategies when specified noise levels are exceeded.
