Tide Gate Bridge Reconstruction Earns Award for Outstanding Use of Technology

The Subcontractors Trade Association recognizes EnTech’s diverse technology offerings for the NYCDDC project in central Queens.

EnTech was honored to receive the Outstanding Use of Technology Award from the Subcontractors Trade Association (STA) for the firm’s work on the reconstruction of the Tide Gate Bridge for the New York City Department of Design and Construction (NYCDDC). The project demonstrates how custom digital tools can advance public infrastructure projects by increasing efficiency, eliminating potential conflicts, and allowing for informed decision making.

The Tide Gate Bridge, in Flushing Meadows-Corona Park, serves two crucial functions: It carries Meridian Road over Flushing Creek, and it sits atop a floodwater control structure that regulates the creek’s tidal flow, protecting the park and surrounding neighborhoods of Queens from flooding. The bridge exhibits significant age-related deterioration, necessitating the complete replacement of the bridge above its pile supports.

EnTech is the prime REI consultant responsible for coordinating and monitoring construction of the $26 million project. The firm is additionally serving as the project’s lead technology consultant. EnTech’s industry-leading Digital Delivery team is providing virtual design and construction (VDC) services such as reality capture, building information modeling (BIM), drone imagery, program management dashboards, 4D scheduling, and assorted visualizations. Leveraging these technologies, EnTech’s VDC engineers have enhanced project efficiency and coordination. These diverse tools have complemented the work of EnTech’s REI team, providing meaningful benefit to the NYCDDC management team.

EnTech expresses its gratitude to the STA for the recognition, and we congratulate the NYCDDC and the full project team for the success of this innovative project.
