Following decades of public advocacy for a public park along the East River waterfront in the area surrounding Bushwick Inlet, the long-awaited park is being built in stages by the New York City Department of Parks and Recreation (NYCDPR). The NYCDPR added a key 1.9-acre parcel atop a New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (NYSDEC) cleanup area, to form a centerpiece for the Williamsburg-Greenpoint waterfront with spectacular views of Manhattan across the East River.
EnTech served as the prime CM firm, leading construction inspection, coordination, and administration for the new park which incorporates both natural and manmade structures, from an elevated lawn to a spray area for children. The firm oversaw the timely execution of construction, in conformance to contract specifications and safety requirements. Under EnTech’s oversight, the project was completed on time and on budget.
The construction scope also included soil remediation at the former industrial area, for which EnTech supplied environmental services and performed inspections per the Excavation Work Plan. Through careful monitoring of earthmoving and surveying, the CM team was able to revise preconstruction estimates of how much earth could be repurposed, reducing the need for new soil and saving costs.
