New Entertainment Powerhouse Nears Completion in Queens

EnTech provided VDC services for the construction of Wildflower Studios, a major new addition to New York’s filmmaking landscape.

Services: VDC/BIM
Location: Queens, NY
Owner: Wildflower, LTD

Residents of the Astoria and Ditmars neighborhoods of Queens may have recently noticed an imposing new addition to the local skyline. That would be Wildflower Studios, a new state-of-the-art entertainment and media production campus. The 775,000-sf facility includes 11 sound stages and is built for the unique needs of 21st-century storytelling, including tools and technologies to produce film, TV, games, augmented reality and virtual reality (AR/VR), and other digital media from pre- to post-production.

EnTech performed virtual design and construction (VDC) services, as a subcontractor. The firm generated electrical BIM models per design contract drawings and updated the model to reflect field changes during installation. EnTech’s team performed internal clash detection, as well as multidisciplinary clash detection to ensure feasibility and constructability of the model. The team also generated layout drawings to facilitate installation. Construction is expected to be finished in late 2024.
