New Brunswick Train Station Modernization and Expansion

New Brunswick is a major New Jersey commuter hub, and the New Brunswick Train Station services NJ TRANSIT and Amtrak lines. The MCIA, in partnership with NJ TRANSIT and NJDOT, is undertaking the restoration and modernization of the historic station with extensive improvements including renovation of platforms, pedestrian passages, and tunnels; and new waiting areas, signage, trainway equipment, building equipment, and vertical circulation elements.

Part of the design team, EnTech is providing services including laser scanning, 3D modeling, BIM coordination, and drawing production. EnTech’s digital delivery team performed LiDAR scanning of interior and exterior elements across the three station floors, including platforms, tracks, waiting rooms, and pedestrian areas. The team developed a 3D existing conditions BIM of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP), architectural, and structural systems.

EnTech is managing the BIM workflow and is performing high-level coordination with the lead designer and owner. The team’s responsibilities include quality control of BIM models, clash detection, and training team members on new technologies and best practices.
