Wildflower Studios, a new entertainment and media production campus in the Astoria neighborhood of Queens, represents a major addition to New York City’s media-production landscape. The project is centered on a state-of-the-art, 775,000-sf studio facility with 11 sound stages. The facility is built for the unique needs of 21st-century storytelling, including tools and technologies to produce film, TV, games, augmented and virtual reality (AR/VR), and other digital media from pre- to post-production.
EnTech provided VDC services as a subcontractor on the electrical team. The firm generated BIM for the new facility’s low-voltage electrical system, based on contract and shop drawings. The team modeled systems, including security cameras, loudspeakers, and other ceiling devices; wireless access points (WAPs) and IT rooms with custom equipment.
EnTech developed a 3D design model in Revit and updated the model during installation in response to field changes. The team performed internal clash detection using Navisworks, as well as multidisciplinary clash detection to ensure feasibility and constructability. EnTech developed floor plans and layout drawings indicating where each element was located to facilitate field installation.
