Among the team’s current assignments is providing support for the inspection of a unique piece of New York City civic infrastructure: The Floating Pool Lady. This unusual (and unusually named) facility is a half Olympic-size public swimming pool, built into a barge. It is moored at Barretto Point Park, on the Bronx’s East River shoreline, and provides recreational swimming opportunities for the Hunts Point neighborhood and surrounding communities.
The Brooklyn Bridge is both a New York City icon and a critical piece of the city’s day-to-day infrastructure. A National Historic Landmark, it was the first bridge to span the East River between Manhattan and Brooklyn, and at the time of its construction it was the longest suspension bridge in the world. The bridge is widely recognized for the timeless aesthetic appeal of its neo-Gothic stone arches and elaborate masonry.

EnTech is thrilled to announce that Jan M. Brown, CSHM, has been awarded a Safety Service Award from the National Safety Council (NSC). Jan received the award as the Site Safety Manager on the construction management team for New York City Department of Environmental Protection (NYCDEP) project CAT-252, the Replacement of Two Bridges Near the Ashokan Reservoir.
James has been with EnTech since 2015. He is currently serving as a construction inspector and team leader on the REI team for the replacement of the upper roadway of the Queensboro Bridge, a major NYCDOT project. His previous projects include serving as a project controls engineer for the construction of the Governor Mario M. Cuomo Bridge.
Osaze is currently serving as an environmental health and safety (EH&S) specialist for a significant electrical distribution project at the NYCDEP Bowery Bay Wastewater Resource Recovery Facility (WRRF), in Queens.

Congratulations to resident engineer Soheil Razzaghi, PE, on earning the Design-Build Professional certification from the Design-Build Institute of America (DBIA). It’s great for the firm to have more of our talented staff certified for design-build projects, which represent an ever-growing part of the AEC industry.
EnTech is providing REI services for this $353 million project, which will install lightweight orthotropic decking to reduce the overall dead load and extend the service life of the bridge. The firm is monitoring contractor operations, performing daily quality and safety inspections, providing office engineering and project controls services, and reviewing change orders, cost estimates, and payments.
Congratulations to resident engineer Amir Asem, PE, on earning the Design-Build Professional certification from the Design-Build Institute of America (DBIA). These certifications will play an important part in the firm expanding its portfolio of design-build projects.

We’re pleased to announce that Ali Vedavarz, PE, PhD, has joined EnTech as Vice President of Vertical Construction. Ali arrives at EnTech with 36 years of experience in vertical construction and has managed numerous projects involving new buildings, renovations, MEP upgrades, building automation, and more. He served more than 15 years with the City University of New York (CUNY), where he rose to the position of Executive Director for the Department of Design, Construction, and Management. He previously worked for the New York City Housing Authority (NYCHA), including as a Deputy Director for Engineering.
EnTech is pleased to announce that Richard Zetterlund, PE, is joining EnTech as Senior Vice President of Construction Management. Richard comes to EnTech following 36 years of service at New York City agencies. He began his career as a Resident Engineer with the NYCDEP, after which he joined the NYCDDC, where he rose to the position of Associate Commissioner in charge of infrastructure projects. For the past 10 years, Richard has served as the Chief Engineer for the New York City Comptroller’s Office.
EnTech is proud to announce that it has recently completed its first project as a prime consultant with the North Hudson Sewerage Authority (NHSA). The green infrastructure project involved the construction of 10 right-of-way bioswales along Park Avenue in Weehawken and West New York, NJ. Work included removal and replacement of existing sidewalks and curbs, installation of green infrastructure elements, and landscaping. EnTech, as the REI consultant, planned and coordinated construction and monitored contractor work.

EnTech recently celebrated the opening of the Bath Beach Park playground, in Brooklyn, following a $5 million renovation. EnTech served as the construction manager for the project, which replaced a dilapidated playground and asphalt field with a new playground and fitness area. The project included new lighting, plantings for shade and aesthetics, drinking fountains, water supply, drainage, curbs, safety surfacing, and fencing.

EnTech is thrilled to introduce Karim Palomino, PE, as the firm’s Vice President of Transportation Services. EnTech has welcomed the recent opening of Grand Central Madison, a new rail terminal underneath the historic Grand Central Terminal. This expansive new facility brings Long Island Rail Road (LIRR) commuter service to Manhattan’s East Side for the first time, greatly increasing train capacity to and from Manhattan and reducing commute lengths for more than 100,000 commuters daily.
We’re checking in with EnTech’s Megan Salazar, one year after her promotion to VDC manager. In her new role, Megan is working as the BIM manager for the design-build team at the JFK Terminal One Redevelopment. For this $4.2 billion megaproject, she leads BIM management, coordination, and technology and innovation strategy.
