SUNY is upgrading the electrical system at the University Hospital of Brooklyn, a 342-bed teaching hospital at SUNY Downstate Medical Center (DMC), to accommodate increasing power demands. Work involves the replacement of two 4,000A/480V electric services, replacement of emergency distribution infrastructure, and related mechanical, plumbing, and fire protection improvements. New electrical closets and equipment rooms are being constructed.
EnTech is providing office engineering, scheduling, and construction inspection services as a member of the CM team. EnTech’s office engineer liaises with the hospital’s facility management teams to coordinate construction and minimize disruption to ongoing operations. The team is responding to RFIs, reviewing submittals, and providing overall administrative and field assistance, as well as supporting field inspections on-site.
Construction spans all floors of the building and is taking place while the facility remains fully operational. Because of the constraints inherent to working in an occupied hospital, EnTech is helping facilitate smooth operations including an intense focus on maintaining cleanliness and preserving the safety and comfort of patients and staff.
